IT'S A SNAP!

THESE ADORABLE LITTLE FINGERS ARE A SNAPPIN! ANDREW IS SO PROUD OF HIS NEW SKILL. NO MATTER WHERE HE IS OR WHAT HE IS DOING, YOU CAN HEAR ANDREW SNAPPING HIS FINGERS. IT IS SUCH A SWEET LITTLE SOUND.
THIS AGE IS SO FUN WITH ALL OF THE NEW SKILLS THEY MASTER. THIS IS ONE OF MANY THAT HE HAS GOTTEN UNDER HIS BELT LATELY. HE GETS HIMSELF DRESSED IN THE MORNING AND AT NIGHT AFTER HIS BATH. HE BRUSHES HIS OWN HAIR AN CAN ALMOST TAKE HIS SHOWER OR BATH BY HIMSELF! HE JUST NEEDS ME TO TURN THE WATER ON AND WASH HIS HAIR. HE BRUSHES HIS OWN TEETH IN THE MORNING BUT MOM STILL HELPS AT NIGHT. NOW FOR THE KICKER...HE IS READING VERY INDEPENDENTLY! HE IS READING HIS LITTLE PHONICS READERS TO ME SO CLEARLY IT IS CRAZY! HE LOVES TO BE INDEPENDENT AND MOMMY IS TRYING TO LET HIM BE THE BIG BOY HE WANTS TO BE. AS BITTERSWEET AS IT CAN BE, I LOVE WATCHING BOTH OF OUR BOYS BE CONFIDENT AND PROUD OF THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS BECAUSE I KNOW IN MY HEART THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABIES.

Boys Will Be Boys

Boy has it been a while since I posted! I have been out of town 4 of the last 6 weeks and I am TIRED. The boys and their daddy have been real troopers as I have left them to their own devices while traveling back to Tennessee to be with my mom. She is doing much better and should be ready to move to a rehabilitation center sometime this week or next. A couple of weeks of in-patient rehab should help her get back on her feet again. Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers. I know that God has had his hand on her recovery process.

Now that I feel I can focus on home for a few weeks I will have to get in touch with my domestic side. Our home has been lacking a woman's touch for some time now and it IS SHOWING IT! I don't even want to tell you what the laundry room smells like...yuck. The boys have gotten used to a lifestyle of quick dinners or fast food which is not good for anyone. I was cooking a good home cooked meal one evening last week when Andrew came in the kitchen dressed in a camo outfit with his gun drawn (a stick from the backyard) and said, "You're under arrest". I said, "Why, what did I do?" He said, "you're under arrest for cooking a yucky dinner". I cracked up. I guess the smell of fresh veggies and chicken cooking didn't smell as good as I thought. You know we are in trouble when my good eater is turning his nose up. Time to change our eating habits!

HOMEBODY

FOR THE FIRST WEEKEND IN 3 WEEKS, I WILL BE STAYING AT HOME. MASON HAS A WAX MUSEUM PROJECT DUE NEXT WEEK THAT WE HAVE TO FINISH UP. THE CHAOS OF THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS HAS PUT US BEHIND ON THE PROGRESS THERE. WE WILL BE BUILDING THE BACKBOARD THIS WEEKEND AND MASON WILL FILL IT WITH PICTURES AND INFORMATION ABOUT HIS CHARACTER . HE HAS TO GIVE A PRESENTATION NEXT WEEK DRESSED AS HIS HISTORICAL FIGURE. HE WILL MAKE QUITE A DASHING THOMAS EDISON IN HIS 3 PIECE SUIT!

WE WILL ALSO TACKLE SOME YUCKY HOUSE WORK AND HUNT EASTER EGGS. OUR PRIZE EGG WILL BE EMPTY SO THE KIDS REMEMBER THE EMPTY TOMB IS WHY WE CELEBRATE.

DI STATE FINALS

We arrived in Houston last night and will be competing today in or state competition. The kids are having a blast and I am too. Andrew can't wait to have his turn at all this fun. Mason had a pin trading event last night and met kids from all over the state that will be competing as well. It was such a great exercise for him to walk up and introduce himself and make new friends. I'll post more later so for now...we are off to "break a leg" ;-).
