Mason is now in 5th grade and I am quickly seeing that this is a transitional year for sure. Academically the demands are more challenging and socially we enter a new era...girls are interested in boys! I guess I need to get ready for all of that drama but I sure don't encourage it at their age.
Here they are on their first day of school.
Oh how I love those little faces! When I picked up Andrew after school and asked him how his day was he said, GREAT! I was so glad to hear that. He has grown up so much since last year. He hasn't cried and loves first grade.
When I picked Mason up, he asked if he could go help be a water boy for the varsity football practice with his buddies...so much for hanging with mom after his first day of school. He's growing up and it is bittersweet. I am so glad he still loves to talk with me at the end of the day when he is getting ready for bed. I'm finding as he gets older I have to be creative with our time to make sure we have some one on one time to talk. The business of life can crowd out what really matters if we let it.
